Students from Computer Science (CS) and Entertainment and Multimedia Computing (EMC) of Holy Angel University (HAU) triumphed in this year’s Regional Assembly of Information Technology Educators’ (RAITE) Hackathon and Video Editing competitions on October 20, 2023 at the Angeles University Foundation Sports and Cultural Center.
Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators (PSITE) Central Luzon led RAITE 2023 with the theme “AI Nexus Convergence of Technology and Human Ingenuity.” Over forty universities in Central Luzon, including Holy Angel University (HAU), participated in the event to showcase their intellect, skills, and creative talent.
The event began with a doxology led by HAU Chorale. As the event proceeded, Data Maneuvers led to an opening salvo with an outstanding dance intermission.
Lance Ozaeta, Daniel Sibayan, Sebastian Nucum, Loren Jean Escober, and Ivy Coleen Spillers, six EMC students, exhibited their abilities and artistry in video editing by utilizing various and unique approaches in presenting the PSITE Hymn made their work strongly appeal to the judges.
Along with this, the Hackathon Mobile Development aimed to gauge and seek partakers’ competence in establishing fresh ideas and strategies in problem-solving practices in the field of Information Technology. Two Computer Science students, Earl Joshua Vergara, and Mark Joseph Buduan, declared as a winner through their concept that targeted purpose and business value had set them apart from the others.
The unwavering support of Dr. Marlon I. Tayag and the guidance of Professors Mr. Timothy James Camiling and Ms. Louella Salenga led the SoC representatives to victory.
