University Days kicked off with a vibrant parade showcasing each department’s spirit. On February 21st, 2024, the School of Computing proudly unveiled an orange fox-themed jeepney arch, followed by an energetic street dance.

John Gabriel Perez, the head of the jeepney arch shared, “I’m the one who came up with the design.” describing the unique fox-inspired structure adorned with claw designs representing the jeep’s fenders and tails. The color palette, reminiscent of a fox’s coat, symbolized the School of Computing’s mascot and representative animal.

The front of the float bore the phrase “reppin’ tsupers,” signifying unity not only with the School of Computing but also with all jeepney drivers nationwide. A subtle yet meaningful detail was the intentional hanging gap of the letter “p” from the word “kompyuter” on top of the jeepney arch, symbolizing both kompyuter, related to SOC, and komyuter, related to the jeepney theme.

At the rear, a striking painting depicted Felix Fox, the SOC Fox mascot, divided in half with one side depicting joy and the other abstract imagery, reflecting the potential consequences of jeepney phase-outs.

A door inscription read “di bITin ang byahe,” with “IT” representing the School of Computing, emphasizing their commitment to never-ending journeys and “laban ng tsuper laban ng komyuter,” at the back highlighting the ongoing battle.

Preparations for the float began on February 12th, as students poured their creativity and dedication into bringing their vision to life.
