Last February 27, 2025, after the consultation with the university admin, the Holy Angel University – University Student Council (HAU-USC) and the Angelite hosted a counter press conference on the Tuition and Other Fees Increase (TOFI) for the academic year 2024-2025 at HAU-USC office.

The College Student Council (CSC) Governors from the School of Computing (SoC), School of Arts and Sciences (SAS), School of Education (SEd), and School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA) were present in the press conference, revealing the expenses of their respective college departments.

USC President Emmanuel Manalastas discussed the 3.5% TOFI for the upcoming academic year 2025-2026, based on the 2.8% inflation rate given by the Commission of Higher Education (CHEd) to HAU. 

According to Malastas, the admin presented total capital expenditures and explained the additional charges to the fees.

 ”So for the miscellaneous fees and other fees, yung total na madagdag based on the 36.90% kasama dito… ang bagong utility fees which is the average of 18 units. So yung utility fee na ‘to na ma i-install iba’t ibang buildings inside Holy Angel University.” Manalastas explained.

“…So halimbawa yung classroom mo for the next shcool year wala siyang aircon or di pa siya nalalagyan ng aircon, ibig sabihin nito wala kang babayaran na utility fee.” he added.

Moreover, the buildings that will have air conditioning are Mamerto G. Nepomuceno (MGN), Peter G. Nepomuceno (PGN), St. Therese of Lisieux (STL), and Archbishop Pedro Santos (APS) this upcoming school year.

Manlastas also stated, “Nagbigay ng breakdown yung admin natin and total capital expenditures ay 138,240,955.37 [pesos]…” 

CSC-SoC Governor Francisco Olpindo IV stated that the SoC administration will have capital expenditures of 6.7 million for the next academic year. 

Soc Dean Dr. Marlon Tayag was absent from the consultation due to an emergency. In his place, Entertainment Multimedia Computing (EMC) Chairperson Jeanky Mendez presented recent accomplishments such as new equipment and facility improvements at the School of Computing. 

According to SoC Governor Olpindo, the School of Computing invested in equipment such as wireless HDMI and network-attached storage and upgraded computer units at MGN-202, SJH-707, and SJH-601. Additionally, the admin improved facilities such as the CISCO laboratory and Photography room and invested in the Foley room, Cyber Range, and AI integrations.

“Sa susunod na taon naman, magkakaroon ng renovation or pagdagdag ng computer units, 46 units sa MGN-305 at 36 units sa SJH-703… magkakaroon din ng security operation center para sa mga cybersecurity student and magkakaroon din ng research on AI integrations at pag-purchase ng meta quest VR para sa mga game development courses.” Olpindo added.

Furthermore, the SoC aims to provide training for teaching personnels but not for students. The SoC governor stated that Dr. Tayag is open to discussing the workshops with SoC organization heads.
