A Love Letter Through Time (Unrequited Love)

Infinity PRIDE Saga: TIME

I visited my grandfather this summer.

He was an honorable and brave soldier in the past and I’d want to be like him. He’s serious but gentle, and he loved Grandma until her last breath. One day, I’m helping him move some things into his room. I noticed a box from his military days full of medals and badges and some old photos of him and his platoon. As I dug deeper into the box, an old red envelope caught my attention.

It’s old but in good condition.

Inside is a letter.

I read it.

“Dear, Roberto Redando

It’s been a long time, Red.

I’m sorry If lately I couldn’t write back letters to you. I promise I’ll make it up to you when we meet again. I miss you. Every time that I see something red, it always reminds me of you. I know I’m being sentimental again but bear with me. Because I know you miss me as much as I do, with all those letters you’ve been sending… And I’m not complaining at all.

But a lot has happened after the disbandment. Many things changed, some good and some bad, but remember that my love for you will forever be engraved in time.

Up until now, I’m still living the days when we were together. I’m afraid that that’s the only thing we can have.

Memories.

If only we could stop time and be together forever. But knowing that it’s impossible, still hurts. I know that we both know that this day will come. It’s just a matter of who will go first.

I’m getting married, Red.

I want to invite you to my wedding.

I know this is not the way we dream it to be. We went to war, ready to die together without regrets, but we both survived. And I’m glad we did because I couldn’t imagine a world without you. I can’t even thank you enough for being with me, Red. You are the most wonderful and caring person I ever met and I still and will love you until the last breath I take. I know I’m asking too much but I hope you do the same.

Love, Green.”

I was speechless.

“His name is Gregorio Griño, and yes, I attended his wedding.” Grandpa was standing beside the door. He told me everything about their story before he met Grandma. Grandma also knew about it from the start. He truly loved Mr. Gregorio but that doesn’t mean his love for Grandma isn’t true. It is just with the time we have in our lives we meet people, we’ll love them, and eventually lose them but the moments and memories will forever be engraved in our hearts.

They were both part of each other’s life. He said that he didn’t regret anything, because without that time in his life, he wouldn’t learn that love doesn’t fade with time.
