A face-to-face meeting was held between Dr. Marlon I. Tayag, Dean of the School of Computing (SoC), and officers of SoC student groups (SGrs) on June 20, 2025 in SJH 202 alongside other faculty members. Outlining their activities for the Academic Year 2025-2026, the SoC orgs shared insights and received inputs and suggestions forwarded by the SoC faculty for improvement and greater engagement.

The meeting was attended by heads of the College Student Council – School of Computing (CSC-SoC), Code Geeks (CG), Cybersecurity Intelligence Alliance (CSIA), Multimedia Aficionados For Interested Artists (MAFIA), The Access Point (AP), and the newly established  Amazon Web Service Learning Club – HAU (AWS LC). Additionally, professors Mr. Chris Almocera and Dr. Alma Therese Manaloto were present in the meeting, who respectively are also the advisers for the CSC-SoC and Code Geeks.

In the meeting, each of the student groups presented their plan of activities from the first to second semester of the year, including outreach programs, college days events, and competitions. Additionally, specialized workshops, such as in basic Kali Linux, web development languages, and multimedia were also planned by the organizations in the face of artificial intelligence (AI). Academic assistance was also bolstered by the groups, ranging from review sessions for specific subjects to a centralized review center that contains reviewing materials for the Foxes.

Dr. Tayag proposed that each of the student organizations try to send participants in contests aligned with their academic programs, citing competitions organized by PSITE and TESDA as examples. Teasing new facilities, events, and conferences catered to each academic course in the School of Computing, he also emphasized the importance of A Day With The Foxes and Aniraya as activities that would garner more enrollees in the department as its population has reached over 1500 students.

Concluding the meeting, Dr. Tayag required that the student groups submit their activity reports and a consolidated calendar of activities. He also expressed full support for their efforts, saying “I wish for your success, because your org is an arm of the School of Computing. You talk directly with the students through your different activities.” He also conveyed the desire for cooperation and clear communication between the SoC faculty and the student groups. “We are here to help you and we are very, very glad that you are always helping us”, he adds.
