Dila ning Kekeng Dayi

Marakal at makakalat
Ding asbuk da ring malda
Dapot pantunan keng tutu
King libutad ning kainge
Ing dila ning kekeng dayi.

Ing Ginu karin banua
Misan neng pengawani
Ding taung makasarili
At ibat karin ibait
Ring dila ning sablang dayi.

Pakakalat king yatu
Ding mangarakal amanu
Anti yang makuleng sapin
Ing bansa nu ya maratun
Ing dila ning kekeng dayi.

Anti nong mibalik ngeni
Ding taung makasaríli
Bubuklud king kametungan
Ding asbuk at pasulungan
Ing dila ning karelang dayi.

Tuturu la ring mestra
Mumutus ring manibala
“King lagyu na ning lugud,
Metung mung amanu at ali
Ding dila ning kekayung dayî.”

Sadiang sapin ning bansa
Ngeni metung ya mung kule
Piglibe ing lagu king putla
Uli na kanung “lininis” de
Ing dila ning kekeng dayi.

Manyalíta at manyulat
King saríling gamat at asbuk
Dapot aliwa ne ing dila;
Memintu ring anak at pinutut
Ing dila ning kekeng dayi.

Sekwil, inugse, kelingwan
Ing tutu at sariling dila
Uli na mo kanung
“Matua at e makabayu
Ing dila ning kekeng dayi.”

Ngeni libutad kainge
Meyabe at mamantun;
Magnasa pa mu ring
Mabibie at kikimut
Ing dila ning kekeng dayi.

Datang ya sa ing aldo
Subli ya’ing kule’t siwala
Matua, anak, kabalen o ali;
Damdaman dang pasibayu
Ing dila ning kekeng dayi.
Tongue of Our Kin
(English Translation

Many and scattered are
The mouths of the masses
Yet I deeply, truly seek
In the midst of the noise
The tongue of our kin.

The Lord in the heavens
Once had separated
The greedy and selfish
And from there were born
The tongues of all kin.

Spread across the world
Are countless languages
Like a colorful tapestry
Is the country where resides
The tongue of our kin.

As if returned today
Those greedy, selfish people
Binding into oneness
All mouths and advancing
The tongue of their kin.

The teachers instruct
The rulers command
“In the name of love,
Shall be one language and not
The tongues of your kin.”

Once our country’s tapestry
Now only one in color
Beauty replaced by the bleak
For they say to have “cleaned”
The tongue of our kin.

They speak and they write
With rightful hands and mouths
Yet the tongues have changed;
The children obeyed and cut off
The tongue of our kin.

Renounced, discarded, forgot
Their true and own tongue
As they claim to justify:
“How old and unmodern is
The tongue of our kin.”

Now, within the noise
Dragged into and finding;
Still hoping that
Alive and moving be
The tongue of our kin.

Hope the day will come
That color and voice return
Old, young, our own or not;
They shall hear once again
The tongue of our kin.
